Experience-sharing seminar on good communication practice in LIFE projects

On 26 February 2025, a number of project organisers and communicators came together for an experience-sharing seminar on effective communication and good practice in projects of the European Commission’s LIFE programme for the environment and climate action. The seminar confirmed that targeted and strategic communication is one of the most important elements in ensuring the sustainability of projects and the wider dissemination of their results. Knowledge exchange between projects is a key priority of the LIFE programme.

The LIFE IS SALACA project team organised the seminar “How to communicate more effectively: transfer of experience between freshwater LIFE projects in Latvia”, to which communication specialists from various LIFE projects were invited. The seminar gave professionals the chance to meet in person and make useful contacts for future cooperation. Communicators from the integrated projects LIFE-IP LatViaNature and LIFE GoodWater IP also shared their experience, offering a valuable perspective from large integrated projects.

In the first part, the invited project representatives presented their communication achievements and shared their experience of carrying out activities. The experts discussed opportunities and challenges, identifying target audiences, using media channels, and designing information campaigns and their results.

In the second part, during a practical session organised by LIFE IS SALACA, the participants analysed project websites, social media content and public communication. They identified good examples that could be adopted by other projects and made recommendations for improvement. The seminar ended with a valuable discussion on transferring experience and proven practices between projects, thereby strengthening the overall goals of the LIFE programme.
