Salaca clean-up on 11 May

On 11 May at 10:00, the Fishing Club “Salackrasti” invites you to join a clean-up of the banks of the Salaca River. This year we plan to cover a longer stretch of the river than in previous years, as the clean-up will run from the “Atpūtas” recreation site in the Ainaži rural area all the way to the port area in Salacgrīva.

Anyone interested can take part in the clean-up, but please register in advance so that we know roughly how many volunteers to expect. The Fishing Club “SALACKRASTI” will make sure you have everything you need for the work, including work gloves, rubbish bags and a warm lunch. Combine business with pleasure and spend the day on the riverbank, doing good deeds in the fresh air! The event is one of the activities of the LIFE IS SALACA project to help achieve good water status in the rivers of the Salaca sub-basin.

Plan for the day

• Meeting point for everyone: Vecsalaca at 10:00, “Lašlejas”, Niedru iela 9 (by the inspection building in Vecsalaca park, coordinates: 57.755074, 24.413669). The morning briefing and the distribution of work gloves and bags will also take place there. This time there is no need to bring your own tools.
• You can get to the starting point by car, by bike, on foot or even by boat. We will take care of you and bring you back to the starting point and your transport once we have cleaned up the stretch of the bank together.
• The river will be divided into eight sections along both banks. Small groups of volunteers will be placed in each section so that the work progresses evenly along the whole river.
• After a great day’s work, we invite you to enjoy an excellent soup on the bank of the Salaca and take part in a lottery with valuable prizes – a weekend with your family in one of the Kapteiņu osta cottages by the sea.
