On January 25, 2024, a joint seminar – experience exchange event of the LIFE GoodWater IP (Implementation of Latvian River Basin Management Plans to Achieve Good Surface Water Status) and LIFE IS SALACA (Adaptation of Water Framework Directive and Habitats Directive harmonization and integrated actions for freshwater quality improvement in Salaca river sub catchment) studies was held at the LVMI “Silava”, The meeting was a joint seminar and workshop with representatives of research cooperation organisations from the Nature Conservation Agency, the Institute of Food safety, Animal Health and Environment “BIOR”, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre and the Fishing Club “Salackrasti”.
Colleagues from the partner organisations shared their experience on river basin management and restoration, freshwater habitats and factors affecting river ecology in the context of the LIFE GoodWater IP study, The scientific assistants of LVMI “Silava” – LIFE IS SALACA Project Manager Edijs Leoke and LIFE IS SALACA Project Lead Expert Mārcis Saklaurs presented the objectives and tasks of the LIFE IS SALACA study launched in October last year, as well as the report on riverine forests.
