The first crayfishing championship

On 19 July, the first Crayfishing Championship will take place on the Svētupe river section and the Jaunupe in Limbaži Municipality, organised by the “Svētupe Protection Society” in cooperation with Limbaži Municipality.
Winners will be determined in 4 categories: men, women, family and the biggest crayfish, or giant crayfish.

The aim of the competition is to revive, preserve, popularise and promote the finest ancient Latvian crayfishing traditions.
The competition takes place on 19 July from 9:00 to 14:00 on the Svētupe river section in the administrative territory of the Salacgrīva unit of Limbaži Municipality.
The competition is organised in men’s (aged 16 and over), women’s (aged 16 and over) and team (family) categories. Children under 16 compete in the family category. Participants must have a valid fishing card and a crayfishing licence purchased on “Mana cope”.
